Susan Williams

As an English major in college, I marveled at how a poet could put ordinary words together in a brand new sequence that no one ever used before. Writing poetry, or capturing a fleeting image with a camera, can leave an indelible imprint that stays with us. As a photographer, I am fascinated with colors, textures, shadows, and reflections of light. Things in plain sight that can easily be overlooked – shadows in a passageway; ripples of water in a fountain; colorful rounds of cheese in a market stall – can be captured as lovely, lasting images. For me, it’s just a new kind of poetry.
